WC 2014 Group Stage

The official World Cup 2014 in Brazil will start on the 12th of June in Sao Paolo, but the draw for the group stages will take place on the 6th of December 2013. That will be the time when we’ll know for sure if we’re going to have a group of death from the start or if fortune will favor the biggest teams who might end up having an easier fate.

Pot 1 is usually made up from the host nation and other high ranking countries from the FIFA, granted all of them qualify. The Asian region is expected to send in at least four countries, and the African region will have 5 representatives even if they have 10 qualification groups. Europe will have the biggest representation with 13 teams qualifying for the group stage, nine of which will go directly, while the other four will be decided by means of playoff matches.
